Brawn Mixer designs, develops, and manufactures a wide array of impellers for every liquid mixing application. Major selection factors like efficiency and cost-effectiveness are balanced against optimal process performance to select the correct impeller, rather than trial-by-error specifications that can shorten mixer life or fail to achieve mixing goals.

In addition to many design options, Brawn Mixer can provide a wide selection of metal alloys and corrosion and/or abrasion-resistant coatings to withstand even the harshest of in-tank environments. Clean-in-place (CIP) designs are available for hygienic or high-purity applications.

Impeller Options

Hydrofoils

Brawn Mixer produces several hydrofoil variants for specific applications. These impellers produce good performance in turbulent flow applications including fluid blending and solids suspension. Hydrofoils pump low viscosity fluids very efficiently, more so than other conventional designs at constant power levels. Some designs have been developed specifically to perform well in laminar flow applications and even in high shear/mass transfer processes. The number of blades, and tip chord angle can be varied to meet your process requirements.

Pitched Blade Turbines

The traditional forty-five degree Pitched Blade Turbine (PBT) is a good all-purpose impeller for a wide range of applications. Brawn Mixer has refined the standard design through testing with varied pitch angles, blade width, and other adjustments by application. The results have been tremendous. When conditions call for more flow or varying the energy input, blade angle and shape can be adjusted to achieve the optimum results while retaining the effectiveness of the basic PBT concept.

Propellers

Propellers remain a simple option for small batch processes and certain processes requiring more shear.

Specialty Impellers

High-solidity (shown), anchors, scrapers, and helical impellers are just a few of the specialized designs Brawn Mixer has employed for high viscosity and non-Newtonian fluids.

Applications

High-flow Impellers: Blending, Solids Suspension, and Dissolving

Ideal for flow-controlled, low-shear applications; such as blending, solids suspension, and dissolving. Designed to maximize strength at lower weights compared to other axial flow impellers, allowing for longer shafts and smaller shaft dimensions.

High-viscosity Impellers: Bulk Motion, Blending, and Heat Transfer

Accurately move product while running at the lower speeds required for high-viscosity blending. Designed for the lower power required for bulk motion, blending, and heat transfer applications especially in high viscosity and/or non-Newtonian fluids.

High-shear Impellers: Dispersion, Emulsion, and Particle Reduction

Convert the majority of the energy of the motor to shear force. These impellers are designed for dispersion, emulsion, and particle reduction applications where a combination of gases, liquids, and solids are present.

Close-bottom Clearance Impellers

Otherwise referred to as kicker impellers, these impellers are used in processes with extremely low liquid levels, or when low-level solid movement is needed at tank outlets.

Sanitary Application Impellers

Clean-in-place (CIP) designs are available for hygienic or high-purity applications such as biopharma, food and beverage, and chemical applications. To aid CIP and washdown processes; features include sanitary hardware and mechanical, electropolished, or liquid-shedding surfaces.
